Thinking About NVCC 8/16/2015

“I [Jesus] am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished” (Luke 12:49-50 KJV). I didn’t understand the word, “straightened,” for it is an old definition. In the verse in means: Limited. Jesus was limited in what he could do until he suffered his baptism on the cross.

Jesus didn’t come to set an example, or to announce an ethic, but to send fire, that is to purify, and he couldn’t do that until He suffered on the cross. His baptism on the cross, in some divine mystical way, was able to deal with the forces that left mankind spiritually blind, and physically broken. It is by way of the cross that Jesus took hold of the poison which has spoiled humanity and destroyed it.

Your Christianity cannot be witnessed by sorrow or sadness, for because of Him all things are yours. Whether you are rich, poor, healthy, unhealthy, or things in your past or present you are Christ’s and Christ is God’s.

Amen,

Kirby
