Happy New Year! May your life in 2015 be filled up, shaken, pressed down, and overflowing with God’s blessings; that’s a whole lot of blessings. Ok, with that said let’s get started for, “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest – and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man,” (Prov. 6:10).
Modernity is a blessing and a curse. The blessing: Thanks to computers, the internet, and i-phones everything that is known is at our finger tips. The curse: In having everything that is known at our finger tips we have isolated ourselves from one another.
My wife and I recently came across an example of this societal evolution. One day while at Starbucks enjoying coffees we became aware that everyone was connected to the web via their laptop or I-phone, but no one was talking to another person in the room; everyone was connected but disconnection.
January is a time for resolutions, so may I suggest one? This year resolve to set some time apart each day to get connected with God. After all, God is the source of all knowledge, and the one who blesses.
